Dr Denise Lawrence joined St George's in 2009 as a Lecturer in Clinical Skills. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare and Biomedical Education, an MBChB (Hons) degree in Medicine and a First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Optometry. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians.
Dr Lawrence primarily leads the clinical skills teaching for second year undergraduate medical students on the five year Medicine MBBS course. She also is the academic lead for the Special Study Component (SSC1) for second year medical students on this course. She is Joint Responsible Examiner for the Clinical Science OSCE exams and leads the Musculoskeletal training of Clinical Skills peer tutors.
Dr Lawrence runs a workshop on the postgraduate Teaching Skills course and also undertakes peer observer and review of teaching for students on the Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare and Biomedical Education.
Dr Lawrence is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
