Diversity and inclusion steering group
St George’s has a diversity and inclusion steering group co-chaired by the Deputy Principal of Institutional Affairs and the Director of HR, and consists of senior colleagues from across the university, including the Vice-Chancellor.
This steering group reports to the council which has ultimate responsibility for ensuring that St George’s operates within the legal framework of the Equality Act and monitors the implementation of our equality statement.
A separate diversity and inclusion working group leads on the implementation of our diversity and inclusion vision and feeds directly into the diversity and inclusion steering group.
This group consists of operational leads and interested parties from across the university ensuring that equality, diversity and inclusion is championed across all university functions.
Race Equality Action and Engagement Group (REAEG)
The Race Equality Action and Engagement Group (REAEG) was formed in April 2021. This group supports and monitors the delivery of the Race Equality Review recommendations as well as assessing progress across the agreed actions. The Group provides valuable input into the development and delivery of these actions and builds links between teams to facilitate implementation and engagement.
The Group's membership is composed of students and staff, including some with relevant operational responsibilities. An essential aspect of the membership is that it is representative of our staff and student community and includes members with lived experiences of racism.
The Group will co-opt additional members of the University for themed meetings and sub-groups for specific projects and discussion and consultation on specific actions.
