Tuesday 8 March 2022 is International Women's Day (IWD).
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for inclusivity and accelerating women’s equality.
For International Women's Day this year we are going share some of the incredible stories of women from St George's to highlight the contributions they have made during the Covid-19 pandemic.
We want to share how different women, in a variety of roles, have adapted and supported in innovative ways, to help our wider community through the pandemic.
You can hear their stories by clicking the items below.
"I would love for the future women to have more belief in themselves and push themselves."
"Those who have truly inspired me are the ordinary women with ordinary lives lived in an extraordinary way."
"Highlighting women’s achievements and dedicating platforms to amplify female voices is not only empowering, but essential."
"The pandemic has certainly changed me as doctor and surgeon. I am now far more aware of my strengths and limitations."
"Imposter syndrome can be very limiting, and as women, we sometimes have our own biases about what we’re able to achieve."
"With an inclusive approach we can ensure that each student has the support they need to reach their full potential."
"It's so important to help women to understand what they have to do to be where they want to be, and have the support they need to thrive."
At St George's, we are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for our students and staff.
We're working hard to eliminate gender imbalance in certain job roles and degree programmes, and are investigating factors that interact with gender in determining recruitment and progression. Find out more about Gender equality at St George's.
