Our financial summary gives an overview of our income and expenditure during 2022/23. St George's income increased to £89.7 million in 2022/23.

Operating expenditure increased to £90.6 million, giving an operating surplus before the movement on our pension provision of £0.9 million. The movement on our pension provision was a decrease of £2.6 million which created a surplus of £1.7 million. An unrealised loss on investments of £0.2 million gives an overall surplus of £1.5 million.

The majority of our income, 41%, came from tuition fees, with 22% from funding bodies and 14% from research grants and contracts. 60% of our expenditure is for staff costs. Teaching accounts for 72% of our funding body grant income.
