Programme Directors will be invited to consider the inclusivity of their programme as part of regular quality assurance mechanisms such as Annual Programme Monitoring Review (APMR). Monitoring is the year-on-year process by which the staff who have responsibility for the delivery of a programme evaluate the effectiveness of the programme in achieving its stated aims, and the success of students in attaining the programme’s learning outcomes. Inclusive education aspects will be embedded in regular APMR training for staff.

The Inclusive Education Course Action Planner (CAP) is a collaborative document designed to be worked on by teams.

Progress Monitoring

  • Digital Accessibility Group: The Digital Accessibility Group coordinates with staff to ensure awareness of digital accessibility needs of staff and students, including training (and monitoring), liaison, and coordination of activities.  The Group informs the embedding of digital accessibility within the broader university strategy for inclusive education and for technology in education.
  • Inclusive Education Steering Group: The Steering Group meets four times a year. It reports to the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Steering Group and will periodically send papers to the Education and Student Strategy Committee (ESSC) and the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Committee (QAEC) as appropriate.
  • Inclusive Education Forum: A regular Inclusive Education Forum has been established as a space to take forward ideas around inclusivity (origins of framework, race equality review etc). The Forum is open to students and staff to share practice and ideas on inclusive learning and teaching practices.
  • Annual Programme Monitoring Reports: A key aspect of the Framework for Action is that it will be action focused and embedded in Annual Programme Monitoring Reports (APMR) - our quality and enhancement process. The Quality Assurance and Enhancement Committee will oversee APMRs via Monitoring Committees and will have direct line reporting to the Inclusive Education Steering Group.
