The Experimental Cardiology Section focuses on establishing the pathological diagnoses in cases of sudden cardiac death (SCD) and understanding the molecular causes of pathogenesis of SCD entities. Specifically, researchers work towards establishing methods of risk stratification, applying improved diagnostic approaches and developing mechanism-based therapies. Furthermore, the section includes research surrounding the genetic aetiology of familial hypercholesterolaemia.
