Charlotte Martin – Director of GLAS and Clerk to Council
Charlotte was appointed Director of Governance, Legal and Assurance Services and Clerk to Council at St George’s, University of London, in September 2022. Prior to that she worked for over 20 years at the Royal College of Music in a variety of roles, most recently as Clerk to Council and Pensions & Projects Manager. As a part of this role she also managed and acted as independent Secretary to the Trustees of the RCM’s own defined benefit pension scheme. Previously she worked as the House Manager at Warwick Arts Centre, the largest UK arts centre outside London, which is a part of the University of Warwick. Charlotte read French at the University of Warwick, followed by a Masters degree in European Cultural Policy and Arts Management.

Maxine Esser - Head of Governance
Maxine was appointed Head of Governance at St Georges, University of London in August 2023, having previously worked in the Postgraduate Administration team at the University since 2019, as Programme Manager: Taught Postgraduate Courses and Head of Postgraduate Administration (maternity cover). Maxine is Assistant Clerk to Council, and is Clerk to Finance Committee, Nominations and Honorary Awards Committee, Senate and Executive Board.
Maxine has worked in the sector since 2010, having held positions at the University of St Andrews, the Royal Veterinary College and the (now dissolved) Conservatoire for Dance and Drama.
Kevin Essien - Senior Governance Officer, Governance Legal & Assurance Services (GLAS)
Kevin joined St George’s in January 2024 as a Senior Governance Officer, working mainly on the Merger between St George’s and City, University of London. Prior to this he worked in Governance, Academic Registry and Student Services across different Higher Education institutions for over 7 years. Kevin is responsible for assisting the Director of GLAS with work related to the Merger.
Laura Camilletti - Senior Governance Officer
Laura joined St George’s in December 2023 as a Senior Governance Officer. She has five years Governance experience working in both public and private sector environments. Laura is the clerk numerous committees at St George’s, including the Audit and Risk Committees, as well as the Safety Management Committee. Laura is also a member of the Chartered Governance Institute UK after gaining a qualification in Company Secretarial and Share Registration Practice in February 2023.
Jacqueline Ferriter - Governance Officer (HR and EDI)
Jackie joined St George’s in August 2022. She came from an INGO having worked for 15 years as Support Officer in their Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns Department. Prior to that she worked for a number of years as a Casework Assistant with a refugee legal advice NGO and for several years with VSO in HR and Public Education. Jackie is responsible for clerking the RRC, JNCC, Academic Promotions, Space Strategy Committee, the Diversity and Inclusion Steering Group, the Athena SWAN SAT, the Race Equality Action and Engagement Committee and from September 2023 the Human Tissue Licencing Committee. Ioana Enany - Head of Student Conduct and Compliance
Ioana joined St George’s, University of London in January 2023 as Head of Student Conduct and Compliance. Prior to this, she worked for over 8 years at University of Surrey in different roles, with over 6 years’ experience in student casework. Ioana is responsible for the management and on-going development of the University’s strategy, policy, and procedures in relation to student complaints, academic misconduct, disciplinary, academic appeals, fitness to practice, discretionary panels, DBS Screening and Extension to a Maximum Period of Study panels. Jack Redfern - Student Conduct and Compliance Officer
Jack joined St George’s in January 2024. Following his English Literature BA and Creative Writing MA, he worked in Further Education as an English Tutor. He is committed to ensuring fair and proper procedure for the sake of the student body and upholding the standards of the University. Alongside his fellow SC&C officers and department head, he manages cases of student matters wherein the University need to intervene and support, while arranging panels of academics and staff members and working across departments with various, relevant people to ensure our procedures are being met and upheld.
Lei Wang - Student Conduct and Compliance Officer
Lei joined St. George’s in January 2024 as the Student Conduct and Compliance Officer, primarily responsible for reviewing academic appeals, facilitating complaints, disciplinary and Fitness to Practise investigations. Prior to this, she gained experience in supporting victims of crimes and adults with learning difficulties through her work with charities. Additionally, Lei brings over a decade of experience in anti-corruption and disciplinary matters within the public sector. Lei's background in law spans both China and the UK, where she received training and researched areas in transnational law, human rights and ESG.
Annabel Wight - Student Conduct and Compliance Officer
Annabel, a dedicated and passionate individual, holds a Law degree from the University of Exeter. Her journey in the field of HE began at St. George’s University in June 2023. With a commitment to making a positive impact, Annabel brings her enthusiasm to the vibrant academic community at St. George’s.
Lu Yang - Senior Student Conduct and Compliance Officer
Lu joined St George’s, University of London in January 2024 as Senior Student Conduct and Compliance Officer. With a background spanning over seven years at both the University of Surrey and Kingston University London, Lu has cultivated her expertise and skills through various roles, accumulating over five years of dedicated experience in student casework. Luca Filippi – Project Officer
Luca joined St George’s in January 2022 as the Liaison Support Librarian for Medical and Biomedical Education. Prior to this he was a medical librarian at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. In July 2023 Luca joined the Vice-Chancellor’s Office to provide project management support for the Head of Strategic Projects. As part of this role, he supports the Director of GLAS with the administration of senior level committees. Kirsten Hylan – Records Manager
Kirsten joined St George's, University of London in January 2018 as the Records Manager, responsible for managing records in any medium, and Freedom of Information. Prior to this, she gained experience in corporates and a membership organisation. Additionally, Kirsten brings over a decade of experience of working in libraries.
