If you require a change in contract, including a change in hours or work pattern, job title, manager, grade or fixed-term contract extension, your manager needs to complete a Changes to contracts and appointments form (Word). Once HR receives a completed form they will action the change.

Please keep in mind the deadlines (Word) for all new starters (including Casuals/Students), leavers and contract variation instructions to be sent to the HR team to allow HR to meet the payroll deadline. Anything received after the deadline date will be processed in the following pay cycle.

For some changes, approval is required from the Resourcing Review Committee (RRC). For more information, see the RRC webpage.

Fixed-term contracts

There are times when employing somebody on a fixed-term contract is the most appropriate option – for example, for a short-term role where the budget is only available for a limited time period. In particular, we recognise that contract research staff form a distinctive group because of their numbers and the high proportion of postdoctoral researchers employed on fixed-term contracts.
