Staff and students can access the internet securely through the WiFi eduroam service. VIsitors who require WiFi access will need to be registered in order to use the service.

Eduroam allows members of participating institutions to access the internet at any other eduroam participating organisation by using their home institution's username and password. For more information and a list of participating Janet sites, please see the Janet website.

When you visit a participating university, you will be able to access the internet including the usual services provided by your institution.

What you need to use eduroam

All users of the St George’s eduroam are required to adhere to, and are bound by, the university’s regulations for using IT facilities, network conditions of use policy, and the Janet acceptable use policy.

To connect to the eduroam service you will need:

  • a wireless-enabled device (laptop, smartphone, tablet etc.)

  • the latest updates and service packs applied

  • a valid username and password (these are usually in the format username@home-institution.ac.uk – eg auser@sgul.ac.uk).

Where to connect

Look for the wireless network ‘eduroam’ in the following areas:

Hunter Wing
  • Ground floor: foyer.

  • First floor: library. Situated in the central reading area outside CRR3.

  • Second floor: the Dragon Bar and conference rooms.

  • Fourth floor: teaching rooms and clinical cubicles.

  • Fifth floor: GEP base rooms, PBL rooms and teaching rooms.

Jenner Wing
  • Ground floor: Pret.

  • Additional areas throughout Jenner Wing, although this service is not intended for production use.

You can expect to connect to all services outlined in the eduroam technical specification.

If your home institution requires you to register for it's edoroam service, then you must have done so before using the the St George's, University of London eduroam service.

All visitors are required to adhere to, and are bound by, the St George's, University of London Regulations for using IT Facilities and Network Conditions of Use policy and the JANET Acceptable Use policy.

To connect to the eduroam service you will need:

  • a wireless enabled device (laptop, Apple notebook)

  • the latest updates and service packs applied

  • a valid username and password (these are usually in the format username@home-institution.ac.uk - eg auser@sgul.ac.uk).
