How can I talk to library staff about loans or general enquiries about using the library?

The Library Helpdesk is located at the entrance to the library. Here you can obtain help with general library enquiries.

Library staff are available at the Helpdesk from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Outside of these hours, the desk is staffed by the security team.

How can I talk to library staff about my research or referencing?

The library offers an 'On Call' Librarian service  for on-the-spot help and advice for finding articles, accessing resources and for guidance on referencing. 

The service runs from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday when the Library is open. Just ask at the Library Helpdesk to speak with the 'on call' librarian and you can meet a member of the team to discuss your queries.

Please note, that , service hours are subject to change depending on the time of year and staffing levels so please check in advance if you are making a special visit by phoning the Library Helpdesk on 020 8725 5466 (Monday to Friday, 10am to 2pm).

How can I get in-depth information support for my assignments, dissertations, research or practice?

Liaison librarians can work with you to navigate academic healthcare information, develop and define your research topics, create optimal literature search strategies and manage your references.

How can I get help with study skills and academic writing?

Although no longer based in the Library, the Academic Success Centre (ASC) offers appointment based face-to-face support for a range of study issues, including effective study strategies, writing academic assignments, and English language help.

How can I get support with Microsoft Office products?
Support for Microsoft Office is available via our IT Trainer. Email: ITTraining@sgul.ac.uk to find out how to book an appointment.
How can I get support for other digital services?

The Learning Technology Services (LTS) team provides operational support and training to staff and students regarding the use of several technologies used St George’s to support teaching and learning across all courses.

Key technologies we support include:

  • Canvas

  • Mentimeter voting tool

  • Myprogress e-portfolio

  • Panopto lecture capture

  • Turnitin.

How can I get help with passwords, Wi-Fi and other IT services?

IT support staff can provide advice or help with passwords, laptops, mobile devices, Wi-Fi etc. on a drop-in basis at the IT Helpdesk located in the ITAV Support office, corridor 10, Jenner Wing. Opening times are Monday to Friday, 12pm to 2pm.
