St George's and City have merged. Find out more.

Once your study is confirmed and approved to start, there are standards and requirements for study delivery. The management of our clinical projects is done through EDGE.

What is EDGE?

EDGE is our local portfolio management system (LPMS). The JRES uses EDGE to manage studies and researchers within St George’s Hospital use it to manage study delivery and patient/participant journeys.

EDGE provides an innovative cloud-based clinical management system that empowers frontline research teams to make the most of their research data. It is specifically designed to give a real-time view of clinical research activity within an organisation. The system can additionally be used as a document, finance and patient (schedule) management tool.

Why are we using EDGE?

EDGE is a regional, pan-London LPMS funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network: London South. The system supports the performance and oversight of NIHR CRN research activity on a NHS Trust level and interacts with the NIHR national central portfolio management system (CPMS). This will directly inform our NIHR CRN funding allocation.

The data from EDGE also outlines our performance against national high level objectives set by the NIHR and the Department of Health and Social Care.

How do I access EDGE?

EDGE is available to all St George’s researchers conducting clinical research. For more information, please contact our Information and Performance Officer, William Roe.
