St George's staff are welcome to join the Infection & Immunity and Genomics Clinical Academic Group (CAG) Joint Symposium on Wednesday 27 September 2023.

The symposium will feature five brilliant speakers from Infection & Immunity and Genomics.

The event is hybrid and no registration required. Attendees can join the event in Lecture Theatre A or online via MS Teams.

Event programme

11am: Introduction - Tihana Bicanic, CAG Director Infection & Immunity.

11:05am: Bacterial GWAS to understand antimicrobial resistance - Adam Witney, Reader in Bioinformatics.

11:20am: Hospital Onset Covid-19 infection (HOCI) study - Cassie Pope, Consultant Clinical Scientist, Infection Care group.

11:40am: Routine respiratory metagenomics service for intensive care unit patients - Jonathan Edgeworth, Professor in Clinical Infectious Diseases and Consultant Microbiologist, St Thomas’ Hospital.

12pm: Breast milk and the infant microbiome - Kostas Karampatsas, St George’s Hospital.

12:20pm: Genes, lymphatics and lymphocytes - Professor Derek Macallan, Professor of Infectious Diseases.

12:55pm: Wrap up - Sahar Mansour, CAG Director Genomics.
