“Accelerating tuberculosis drug development” - Jenner Lecture 2020

We are delighted to host Professor Stewart Cole PhD, FRS, Director of the Institut Pasteur, Paris for the Institute of Infection and Immunity's Jenner Lecture 2020. A leading international expert in the field, Stewart’s lecture is entitiled “Accelerating tuberculosis drug development”

Professor Stewart Cole says "Despite the advent of Covid-19, tuberculosis (TB) obdurately remains the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent having claimed over a billion human lives in the past two centuries.  In the last two decades, intensive efforts have been made by the public and private sectors to discover and develop new therapeutic agents to treat and cure TB.  A promising pipeline of new drugs and regimens is now in place and I will describe how this was achieved and outline the next steps.
