Director of Communications and Engagement
Rachel Wheeley - Director of Communications and Engagement

Rachel WRachel Wheeley is the Director of Communications and Engagement at St George's, University of London. With experience in BBC radio news and the Physiological Society, Rachel joined St George's in July 2021. Leading the Communications and Engagement Team, which includes the Development and Alumni department, she takes great pride in her role.

Rachel lived in Tooting from 2006 to 2016. Her three children were born at St George's Hospital between 2010 and 2014. As a former Tooting resident, she has a strong affinity for our University and the local area.

Rachel's goal is to create a vibrant and inclusive alumni community at the University. She is passionate about engaging and empowering alumni to support projects that enhance St George's as an exceptional place for healthcare students to work and study.

Under Rachel's leadership, St George's is forging strong connections and paving the way for an exciting future for its alumni community.

Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations
Mandy Sheriff - Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations

Mandy Sheriff's headshotMandy Sheriff is the Associate Director, Development and Alumni at St George’s, University of London, leading our fundraising and alumni community engagement strategy.

Mandy joined us in late 2023 and brings nearly 20 years experience in building supporter and alumni engagement programmes in the cultural and educational sectors in the US and the UK. She comes to us most recently from the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.

Passionate about building connections and communities of support, Mandy looks forward to getting to know our alumni and supporters and growing the power and impact of our community within the University and across the sector.

Having lived in Wandsworth for the past five years, Mandy has a strong affinity for the hospital, the University, and the local community in which she lives and works.

Development Operations and Database Manager
Chris Huggins - Development Operations and Database Manager

Chris HugginsChris Huggins is the Development Operations and Database Manager. Chris started his St George’s journey in 2007, he went on to complete a BSc(Hons), MRes and PhD in Biomedical Science at St George’s. Upon the completion of his PhD, Chris transitioned into database management, data analysis and development.

As a St George’s alum himself, Chris often enjoys sharing stories with other alumni, hearing about their careers and interests. He is constantly overwhelmed by the generosity of the alumni community, who support the current students in a plethora of ways.

Ciaran McKenna – Alumni Engagement Manager

Ciaran McKenna joined St George's in the Summer of 2016 having previously worked for, and studied at Newcastle University. Initially joining in a Marketing and Recruitment capacity, Ciaran moved into the Communications team as Press and Student Communications Officer before becoming the university's Alumni Engagement Manager in August 2023.

Ciaran is responsible for keeping alumni connected with the university whether it be through events, in person or remote, facilitating volunteering opportunities such as being a part of Careers panels or via regular communications sent to alumni from St George's. If an alumnus gets in touch with you asking for advice or further information about what St George's can do for them, please do feel free to contact Ciaran.
