Access to Learning Fund 2020/21 – support for home students who are experiencing financial hardship
Published: 19 January 2021
The Access to Learning Fund (ALF) 2020/21 remains open for applications. The ALF is St George's hardship fund for home (UK) students. Further details about how applications for the fund are assessed, confirmation of the priority groups, and details of the supporting documentation typically required are below.
Applicants should be sure to provide full details of their circumstances and reasons for applying. If your financial situation has been negatively impacted by COVID-19, please include information about this on your application and attach any relevant supporting evidence.
Applications from fully registered and enrolled home (UK) students can be considered, however please be aware that the ALF is a limited and discretionary fund and not all applicants will qualify for an award. If you have any queries about your eligibility please email alf@sgul.ac.uk.
Care leavers (students up to the age of 25 who have been looked after by a Local Authority before coming to University) may be eligible for additional support from the Access to Learning Fund. Please see the guidance notes for further details.
The ALF application form and guidance notes are available online at https://www.sgul.ac.uk/for-students/student-support/student-finance-and-funding/finance-advice/other-sources-of-funding (if clicking this link does not work please copy and paste it in to your web browser).
The ALF will remain open during the academic year until funds are exhausted. Students who wish to be considered are advised to make an application as soon as possible.
The Student Services Team are continuing to work remotely so the completed application form and PDF copies of the supporting evidence should be submitted by email to alf@sgul.ac.uk. Once your application has been reviewed, the Student Finance Adviser may contact you for further information and/or to meet via MS Teams to discuss your circumstances.
