It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our second-year Paramedic Science student, Georgia McCoy. Our thoughts and condolences are with Georgia’s family, friends and housemates at this incredibly difficult time.
Georgia was involved in many aspects of student life at St George’s and was a keen member of the Students’ Union Cheerleading Society. She will be remembered fondly by her classmates, cheerleading teammates and the many friends she made at university across our programmes, as well as by the Paramedic Science programme team and all the staff who knew her.
This news will be very distressing for everyone in our community, and we want to make sure that everyone can get the help they need. If you or anyone else at St George’s are finding the news difficult to cope with, we are here for you.

A memorial room has been set up on campus in memory of Georgia. Please see internal communications for details and do visit the room and feel free to encourage colleagues and classmates to do so too.
The SU Cheerleading Society have kindly created a fundraising page for Georgia’s funeral. If you would like to contribute, you can do so here.
In the wake of this dreadful news, discussing mental health, reaching out and supporting one another are more important than ever. Initiating discussions about mental health following such a loss can ensure that everyone feels supported and understood in their struggles.
Please be assured that St George’s will do whatever it can to provide the support you need, for as long as you need it.
