The seasonal University closure is fast approaching, from 17.00 on Monday 23 December until 09.00 on Thursday 2 January 2025.
With this in mind, we wanted to send some helpful information on closure dates, what services will be available to you and how to look after your welfare over the winter break.

The Library (Hunter Wing, Level 1) will close at 17.00 on Monday 23 December and reopen at 08.00 on Thursday 2 January 2025.
The computer rooms (Hunter Wing, Level 1) will be accessible with a valid ID card throughout the closure period.

The Student Life Centre (Hunter Wing, Level 0) will be closed from 17.00 on Friday 13 December until 09.00 on Monday 6 January 2025, at which time it will have relocated temporarily to Level 6 of Hunter Wing. We shared further details of this move with you last month.
The Student Life Centre team will be working remotely from Thursday 2 January 2025 until their on-site reopening stated above. You can get in touch with them in this period by email via studentlifecentre@sgul.ac.uk or by calling 0203 897 2033.
Support services and welfare
The Counselling Service will close at 16.00 on Monday 23 December and reopen at 09.00 on Thursday 2 January.
Open sessions (individual drop-in sessions at 12.00 weekdays) will be available as usual up until Monday 23 December.
Student support is available 24/7 via both Togetherall and Student Space.
Winter can be a challenging time for many students. If you require support in case of an emergency, there are a number of resources available via our website.
In addition to Togetherall, national helplines such as Shout and Samaritans are also accessible to provide 24/7 emergency support to those who need it.
Education and Welfare support provision is also available via the St George's Students' Union until 17.00 on Monday 23 December and will reopen in the New Year from Thursday 2 January. Please visit the Students' Union office or contact them by email at dpreswelfaretooting@su.sgul.ac.uk.
You might also find it helpful to look through the Cost of Living Hub on our website, which outlines financial support and helpful resources for keeping warm and well-fed over the winter period. Student Space also has some helpful wellbeing pointers for the winter break.
Festive break
We’d like to finish by wishing you all a very happy, healthy and safe seasonal break. Please use this time to try and relax as much as possible, spend time with loved ones and enjoy some well-earned downtime.
However, you choose to spend the break, please look after yourselves and each other as best you can. We look forward to seeing you all, hopefully refreshed and reinvigorated, in the New Year, 2025.
