Dr Alison Swartz

Senior Lecturer in Global Health
I teach on Global Health Course and conduct qualitative research about adolescence and fertility.

Alison joined St George's in August 2023 as a Senior Lecturer in Global Health. She is an interdisciplinary social scientist with training in Social Anthropology and Public Health from the University of Cape Town. Alison recently moved to London from Cape Town, South Africa in 2021. She conducts qualitative research on a range of topics including adolescent fertility, sexuality, and gender identity, migration and refugees, HIV, TB and digital health, predominantly in South and southern Africa. She is currently acting co-director of the MSc in Global Health Course, and supports teaching on a range of modules at postgraduate and undergraduate levels.
