Dr Audrey Teh

Lecturer in Molecular Immunology
Research on plant-made recombinant pharmaceuticals to combat cancer and infectious diseases.

Dr. Audrey Teh is a Lecturer in Molecular Immunology at the Institute for Infection and Immunity at St. George's, University of London. She earned her PhD from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and subsequently worked as a post-doctoral researcher with Professor Julian Ma, whose group was among the first to investigate the production of monoclonal antibodies in plants.

Audrey is committed to making medicines affordable and accessible to all. Her research leverages plants as a cost-effective, rapid, and scalable manufacturing platform for producing therapeutics and vaccines targeting cancer and infectious diseases. She was awarded the 2024 UK Academy of Medical Sciences Springboard Award to investigate the impact of protein and sugar structures on the effectiveness of cancer immune checkpoint inhibitors. Currently, Audrey leads projects focused on developing cancer immunotherapies for low- to middle-income countries.

A ‘pharmer’ at heart, Audrey’s favorite place to conduct research is the ‘Skylab,’ a greenhouse facility located on the top floor of SGUL.
