I am a Consultant Psychiatrist (BSc MBBS MSc FRCPsych) based at Springfield Hospital, where I am College Tutor and Educational Supervisor. I have been an honorary senior lecturer and addictions teaching lead in the Section for Interdisciplinary Studies of the Institute of Medical and Biomedical Education at St George's, University of London since 2011. My MSc dissertation was on dual diagnosis - addictions with mental illness - and I have supervised BSc projects on this topic. Also I supervise student research in digital health and telepsychiatry, essays (SSCs) on digital health and service development projects. I have had many media appearances, quotations in national newspapers, and presentations at oversees conferences and meetings.

Dr Abbasian (BSc MBBS MSc FRCPsych) completed his psychiatric training at the Maudsley, a centre of excellence and one of the most influential mental health establishments in the world. He has worked and trained with the leaders in the field of psychiatry and addictions. Dr Abbasian has been practicing psychiatry since 2000 and currently works for the NHS and the private sector. He teaches medical students, junior doctors, GPs and charity volunteers. Dr Abbasian has had many media appearances, including on the BBC and has published extensively including in peer-reviewed journals.
My research interests include - dual diagnosis of mental illness with addictions, mental health stigma and media, evolutionary psychiatry, staff and patient surveys, psychiatry service development projects, digital health and digital psychiatry, and mental health and well-being of doctors.
