Dan works as Head of the Multiprofessional Section and is a Reader in Multiprofessional Education at City St Georges University of London. He also works clinically as an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner& Practice Development Lead. He started his career in healthcare as a community Physiotherapist in Denmark and Norway. After returning to the UK, he continued his healthcare journey to become a Paramedic for the London Ambulance Service, eventually working for the South East Coast Ambulance Service.
As Head of Section, Dan is responsible for strategic direction and curriculum design of multi-professional, post-registration healthcare education. This currently includes the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and a portfolio of stand-alone & CPD style modules. As Practice Development Lead within the ambulance trust Dan provides clinical supervision, mentorship and professional leadership for advanced paramedics practicing at Advanced Clinical Practice level.
Being dual educated as both Physiotherapist and Paramedic has given Dan a unique perspective on Multiprofessional healthcare education.
His previous research has explored the opportunities and challenges faced by Advanced Paramedics rotating through emergency- & primary care settings.
Based on his academic experience and clinical background, Dan has a passion for clinical education. He is currently studying a Professional Doctorate at the University of Bath, with a focus on exploring the clinical supervision requirements of paramedics and other emergency medical personnel in pre-hospital settings. He is driven by the conviction that optimising clinical supervision practices, will cultivate a culture of learning, resilience, and excellence within the Ambulance Services, ultimately leading to enhanced patient care and provider well-being.
In addition to BSc’s in both Physiotherapy and Paramedicine, Dan has an MSc in Healthcare Practice (Advanced Practice) and a PGCert in Expedition & Wilderness Medicine.
