I am the Institute Academic Lead for Research in the Centre for Allied Health working 0.5 wte at St George's. I facilitate research and scholarly activity amongst staff in the Centre for Allied Health.
I am the module lead for the Level 7 MSc ACP module for Evidence-Based Quality Improvement project (30 credits) that brings together multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals in action learning groups to advance local QI.
I am a clinical academic speech and language therapists with a research interest in complex dysphagia in adult patients managed in the critical care environment. My own research has focused on the rehabilitation of speech and swallowing in people following spinal cord injury.
I am a previous NIHR award holder and provide mentorship and supervision to allied health professionals who are undertaking research training. I am an NIHR award panel member.

I was awarded an NIHR Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship. The DAISY project http://daisyproject.info focused on early identification of swallow risk using a screening tool to promote early intervention for cervical spinal cord injury patients at risk of respiratory complications.
I have over 30 years experience in this area and have led strategic projects to enhance the knowledge and skills of SLTs in UK and Europe. I was Lead Author for the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist's Position paper on working in intensive care.I am a Visiting Professor on the MSc Deglutology in KU Leuven, Belgium and working with the European Speech Language Association to campaign for a recognised role in ICU.
I am a co-lead in this exciting multi-professional incubator hub to grow research in this area especially focusing on undeserved populations and increasing equity for researchers from the global majority.
I led the SLT clinical services of Covid-19 patients at NHS Nightingale London and UCLH during the pandemic. I am currently a research co-applicant on an NIHR LISTEN project, focused on a Long Covid self-management intervention led by Professor Fiona Jones.
