Omar Janneh is a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology/Physiology. His profile in education is commendably strong. In 2018, Omar was awarded Best Lecturer to Years 1&2 in recognition of his outstanding commitment and contribution towards student experience. In June 2022, the Excellence in Healthcare Education Awards 2022 awarded him the certificate of merit as the Most Inspiring Lecturer.
Omar graduated with a BSc (Hons) and PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Liverpool. He was a visiting Fellow at Georgetown University (USA). He returned to the UK as a Research Associate at the University of Liverpool. From 2006 to 2009, he held a lectureship position at the University of Ulster; then he moved to Coventry University as a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology (2009-2013). Omar obtained a PgCert at Coventry University and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Omar is a member of many committees and panels at SGUL and has served on Senate.
Omar’s current research focuses on the pharmacology of novel anticancer agents.
Omar teaches on a number of programmes such as Biomedical Science, medicine (MBBS5 and MBBS4), Healthcare Science, Pharmacy and MRes/MSc in Translational Medicine. Omar also leads a number of modules such as:
