In 2020, we launched a new virtual institute entirely focused on translation, the Translational and Clinical Research Institute (TACRI), in partnership with St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The institute will act as a conduit and platform for opportunities across both organisations, generating a culture of research success, recognition and collaboration.
Our Clinical Academic Groups which are established areas of research excellence will work closely with this Institute and, going forwards, it will form a key component of the University & Trust’s research strategies. Our ambition is that this will provide a structure for clinical researchers (including nurses, midwives, doctors and allied health professionals) to work together across both institutions, therefore accelerating patient benefit.
Activities supported by the institute will include development of researcher web pages, internships and grant writing courses, as well as further research opportunities and training sessions for career development. The institute plans to run regular seminars, lectures and workshops to encourage involvement and learning among clinicians and academics.
