What you'll see happening

Starting in the next few months, you may notice some temporary changes to the campus environment as we carry out various improvement works.

These may include:

  • Building assessments: We’ll be conducting regular checks to ensure our buildings meet safety standards and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Refurbishments: Upgrades to facilities to enhance functionality and safety.
  • Proactive maintenance: We’ll be carrying out essential maintenance to keep our buildings in good condition and ensure a smooth-running campus.

We understand that improvements of this scale can sometimes cause temporary inconvenience. We'll do our best to minimise any disruption and keep you informed every step of the way.

Why is this not achievable in a shorter time frame?
All work will need to happen while teaching and research activities are taking place. There is not an opportunity to decant to alternative premises while the work is undertaken.
Couldn't this work be done out of hours?

We've considered doing the work outside of normal hours. While some tasks could be completed in the evenings or at weekends, this programme is extensive and would take significantly longer to finish if we only worked out of hours.

Completing the work while the building is occupied allows us to progress more quickly and ultimately minimise the overall disruption to teaching, learning, and research.

Will works be taking place during my exams?

We understand that exam periods are a crucial time, and we've made every effort to schedule any necessary works to minimise disruption.

We've carefully considered the exam timetable when planning our activities. If you have any specific concerns about potential disruptions during your exams, please don't hesitate to contact your course team to discuss this further.
