If you're an EEA or Swiss national planning to study with us in 2020, then you won't need a visa as long as you arrive in the UK by 31 December 2020, i.e. the end of the transition period. To continue living and studying in the UK after this date, you will need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme before 30th June 2021.
EEA and Swiss nationals, and their family members, who have not arrived in the UK by the 31 December 2020 will need a visa to work or study in the UK. A new immigration system, which will support EU nationals in coming to work and study in the UK, is currently being finalised and scheduled for implementation in autumn 2020.
Fee status and student finance
EU, EEA, and Swiss nationals will no longer be eligible for home fee status or financial support from Student Finance England (SFE), once the UK formally leaves the EU on 31 December 2020. The announcement from the UK Government confirms that these changes will come into effect with the 2021/22 academic year.
International students commencing their studies in the 2020/2021 academic year (and current students) will remain eligible, which means they will be charged the same tuition fees as UK students for the duration of their course, and have access to financial support from SFE.
