It is important that you register as soon as you arrive, so we can prepare your interview slot. The registration desk can be found near the main reception desk, which is on your left as you enter through the main university entrance in the Hunter wing - please see our campus map for reference.
You will be registered using your name and Applicant ID number and given a name badge for your time on campus. You will then need to show a form of photo ID in order to prove your identity. It is essential that you bring one of the following:
- A valid passport
- A UK drivers license, provisional or full .
Without your physical photo ID, we will be unable to interview you and may not be able to reschedule your interview to another day. If you do not have one of the above, or will not be able to present it on your interview day for any reason, please contact interviews@sgul.ac.uk as soon as possible.
After registering, you will be directed to the Applicant Waiting Room, where you will be able to prepare in a calm environment before your interview. If you arrive early, you will also be able to explore our facilities and Tooting to get a feeling for our community in action.
Please be aware that you must arrive to register no later than your chosen interview slot. However, registration will be open between 9:45am and 3:15pm. You are encouraged to arrive at an earlier time if that would help you get a feel for our campus or allow you to prepare calmly prior to your interview.
Prior to your interview starting, you will be able to sit in our Applicant Waiting Room and prepare in a calm and quiet environment. Drinks and snacks will be available as complimentary refreshments, and a student ambassador will be on hand should you want to ask any questions.
This will be in the boardrooms of the second floor of the Hunter wing - please see our campus map (PDF) for reference. Please be aware that friends and guardians who have accompanied you to your interview day will not be allowed in the Applicant Waiting Room.
Once you arrive at the Applicant Waiting Room, you will be given a sticker confirming your interview place. Five minutes before your interview, you will be collected from the Applicant Waiting Room and taken to your MMI room by a member of staff.
If you arrive early, please ensure that you make your way to the Applicant Waiting Room no later than 15 minutes before your interview. However, you are free to arrive earlier than this if you would like more time to prepare, and the Applicant Waiting Room will be open from 10:00am to 12pm for morning interviews, and from 1:30pm to 3:30pm for afternoon interviews.
Please be aware that the Applicant Waiting Room and MMI rooms are up two flights of stairs, but step free access is also available should you require it.
Your interview will consist of six questions, each lasting four minutes, with a 60 second break in between each for rest.
For each question, you will be assessed by a different interviewer, who will ask you a question, explain a practical task, or introduce a role play, for example, dealing with a challenging situation. A written copy of your question or task will also be available for your reference throughout your time. At the end of four minutes, you will be instructed to return to the centre of the room for a 60 second rest. You will then move onto the next station.
Throughout the interview, there will be several members of staff and student ambassadors on hand to supervise and assist in the running of your MMI; should you need anything at any time during your interview, please just raise your hand and we will be able to help. There will be water available in the Applicant Waiting Room, though you are also welcome to bring your own water bottle; no other food or drink will be allowed in the MMI room.
There will be no opportunity to go to the bathroom during your interview, and you will not be able to check your phone or refer to notes. There will be a space for you to leave your belongings in your MMI room and we expect you to leave your phone switched off in your bag.
Please feel free to contact us at interviews@sgul.ac.uk if you have any questions about your MMI process, or would like to make us aware of any accessibility adjustments you require, for example large-print copies of the questions or mobility access.
After your MMI, there will also be an opportunity to attend a talk from one of your course tutors and ask any questions you would like.
There are up to two talks each day and they will be held in the Applicant Waiting Room. Please note that, due to room capacity limits, we may have to limit this event to applicants-only at short notice.

If you find yourself with extra time on your interview day, there is always plenty to see and do on campus and in Tooting. Please feel free to have an explore of the local area on your own, but always ensure that you are in the Applicant Waiting Room 15 minutes before your interview slot.
Explore Tooting
Estimated time: 45 minutes to 1 hour
Tooting has two markets with an excellent range of shops and eateries, and we highly recommend checking it out if you can fit it into your day! It is a 10 minute walk from campus, or a five minutes walk from Tooting Broadway station, but please be aware that it can be very busy at times, so make sure to plan extra time for ordering and navigation if you are hoping to eat at a peak time.
Walk the perimeter of the hospital site
Estimated time: 20 to 40 minutes
See all the departments and buildings we share our site with, and get a feel for the atmosphere of studying in a working hospital. You can also reflect on your interest in your chosen discipline and consider your future aims while watching the comings and goings, which we hope will help you feel excited and grounded on what can feel like a tense day.
Have a snack or eat lunch
Estimated time: 30 to 45 minutes
Explore for your daily lunch options by grabbing some food from one of our on-campus vendors (Peabodys, Pret-a-Manger, M&S Cafe or the Ingredients canteen); you can then soak in the vibrant atmosphere while eating and watching the intermingled hospital and university communities co-exist.
Estimated time: three minutes
If you are feeling stressed, or would like to feel more centered, consider using the box breathing technique and repeat four times.
