You can password protect your content by setting permissions in each folder's properties. These permissions can apply to the webpages themselves, or to content types, such as documents, images or other files you have uploaded to the CMS.

How to password protect your content

1. Selecting to protect pages or content types

Click on the folder, then click on Properties, then navigate to either: 

  • content types: this will control permissions on content types, such as documents (Word, PDF, Excel, Powerpoint etc), images and other files you have uploaded to the CMS

  • templates: this will control permissions for the pages themselves according to their template, either landing-page or content-page.

Then click on the edit icon in the Permissions column.

2. Adding password protection

To add password protection:

  1. click Add User Group

  2. check AD Users, then click Save

  3. check the View box for the AD Users line

  4. uncheck all boxes for the WEBCONTENTACCESS line

  5. click Close.

3. Removing password protection

To remove password protection from your content:

  1. click Add User Group

  2. navigate to page 5 and check WEBCONTENTACCESS, then click Save

  3. check the View box on the WEBCONTENTACCESS line

  4. click Close.

4. Checking permissions on your content

To check that your permissions have been set correctly, open an incognito or a private browsing tab in Chrome or Firefox, and try to access the content.

This will show you what a public user experiences on the site.
